HIIT & Fartlek

HIIT Fitness Equipment

HIIT or High-Intensity Interval Training formerly started life described by the Swedish word fartlek but with the advent of Crossfit a more familiar term and acronym came about, that being HIIT. This type of training covers any exercise where intermittent bursts of high instensity (anaerobic) training is followed by a spell of lower intensity aerobic or "recovery" exercise; and so the 2 are cycled throughout the course of the exercising period.
The fitness equipment in this section have been selected as they allow rapid and random changes in intensity, something the likes of a motorised treadmill or resistance based exercise bike can't manage. The HIIT compatible machines need to offer adaptive resistance e.g. the WaterRowers but more specific HIIT equipment has specific timers such as the Tornado Fan Bike.
